Cabin living room with wood stove and tall windows

Cabin Skog.

A 42-square-metre weekend house north of Stockholm, built around a single south-facing window and a wood stove. For a violinist and her dog.

The brief

A weekend house, designed to be missed.

The owner spends four days a week here. The rest she spends in Berlin, missing it — which became the design brief.

Square metres

42 sqm, single storey, on a glacier-cut lake.

Timeline

Nine months end-to-end. Built in summer 2025.

Material family

Local pine (clear-finished), soapstone, raw wool, blackened steel.

Team

Reka Tóth (lead). Carpentry: Trä and Form. Stove: Morsø.

The plan

One room, three corners, three altitudes.

We designed the cabin as a single room with three altitudes — a sleeping platform raised eighty centimetres, a sunken reading corner, and the kitchen at floor level. The stove sits in the middle.nnEvery activity has its own height. Nothing has its own room.

A small house of your own?

We take one cabin or small-house brief each year. The next slot opens in spring 2027.
